The port aged in wood for 2 1/2 years where it developed aromas of spiced cherries, boysenberries, cedar and plums. Those flavors were enhanced by carefully balancing the sugar and acid in the wine, a Prager port-making trademark. The grapes are harvested at a lower brix and with higher acid, resulting in a full-bodied red port that is less sweet than most. This technique allows the bright fruit flavors so typical of California ports to shine.

This Royal Escort is dryer in style than most California Ports and is from 100% Napa Valley Petite Sirah grapes from the replanted Paladini Vineyard. The deep rich garnet color lends to a fresh pressed berry bouquet followed by ripe cherries on the palate. Open t his Port and enjoy over several months or store unopened for many years.
