Densely packed but rather light on its feet, with a sappy quality to its flavors of spicy red berries, cherry, minerals, smoke and rooty underbrush. Finishes with a broad dusting of tannins and good subtle building length. In a less fruity style than this producer's pinots from Central Otago. Deep black, plummy red. Vibrant and complex aromatics of black fruit, flowers, liquorice, plum and cherry, with secondary notes of earth, cocoa and spice. The palate is full and sweet-fruited with flavours of cherries, violets, tar, bark, smoke, spice and liquorice. Full bodied with fine, velvety tannins that coat the mouth. The finish is long and bright.
