97pta(IWC)Good deep ruby-red. Reticent but very pure aromas of blueberry, cassis, violet, mocha and minerals. Sweet, broad and wonderfully deep, with dark berry and mineral flavors complicated by a soil-driven saline note. Utterly seamless and consistent from start to fully ripe, aromatic, extremely long finish. The major tannins coat the teeth, but make those of the 2010 version seem almost dry by comparison. 94-97pts(WA)The 2009 Proprietary Red Paradise Hills Vineyard comes across as dark and quite implosive. Dark fruit, grilled herbs, smoke and new leather are some of the notes that flow from this impressively structured wine. The 2009 boasts gorgeous textural richness in its plush dark fruit. Mint, flowers, cassis and tobacco are layered into the beautiful, textured finish. Clean veins of minerality give the wine its center and focus. This is a fabulous, hugely promising wine.
