The 2010 CERVANTES is dark and concentrated, with lovely aromas of ripe cherry, berry fruit, cola, cedar and coffee. Supporting notes of sweet oak, anise and cassis add brightness and nuance to the nose. On the palate, this full-bodied wine is packed with radiant tannins, mouthfilling sweet fruit, chocolate and baking spices. Though eminently drinable now for its flashy youthfulness, 2010 has also produced a cellar-worthy CERVANTES that will gain complexity with additional aging.
As Chappellet Mountain Cuvee was, CERVANTES Mountain Cuvee is blended around a core of Cabernet, but it also includes a significant amount of Merlot to add suppleness and fruit. From vintage to vintage, the blend may also include other Bordeaux varietals, as it has in the past.
