2010 Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir RRV (Red Wines / Pinot Noir)

91-93(WA)The 2010 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley is beautiful. It has a bit more depth and darker fruit than the 2009. Sweet spices, new leather and licorice are some of the notes that wrap around the finish. This is a terrific showing. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2020.

This is a dazzling set of Chardonnays and Pinots from Paul Hobbs. The wines are made with native primary and secondary fermentations, aged on their lees and bottled without fining of filtration. Vintages 2009 and 2010 are both strong, but I find myself favoring the 2010s for their greater verve and focus. Deep ruby in color, this complex pinot noir offers aromas of wild berries, rose petals, cola and tobacco. The silky, supple palate is brimming with raspberry, caramel fleur de sel, lavender, cardamom; all supported with a mineral backbone. Alcohol 14.4% Winery Notes
