2011 Chateau St Michelle Eroica Riesling (White Wines / Other Whites)

Once again this collaboration between Ernst Loosen and Chateau Ste. Michelle finds a place at the very head of the class. It is a tightly bound wine of steely potential rather than one of immediate sweetness and juice, but, even now, it teases with subtle suggestions of flowers, sweet limes and stony spice. Its scant suggestion of sweetness is balanced by plenty of youthful acidity, and its impressions of nerve and vitality make it one that can be confidently set aside for further age if you can resist its already inviting come-hither entreaties.
