2011 Two Shepherds Pastoral Blanc

Formerly known as the “MRV” this years white blend sports a new name, and the addition of Grenache Blanc.  We agree with the French philosophy that when it comes to making Rhone wines –  the sum of the parts is often greater than the whole. This white cuvée demonstrates this admirably. This years blend is very different, as it should be. 2011 was considered one of the roughest vintages in 30 years for Russian River, and we are very pleased, after much effort how this turned out. Blended from 40% Roussanne, 20% Marsanne,  20% Viognier, and 10% Grenache Blanc.  Fermented and aged in neutral oak, on the lees. This imparts no oak qualities, but softens the wine and enhances its texture and mouth feel, and complexity. We love this incredibly balanced, complex winter white. It is impeccable alone, a symphony when paired with food.
