2012 Kanzler Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast

There is so much going on in this wine it's difficult to describe. On opening the wine unveils an exotic nose of huckleberry tea with notes of anise and rose petal. As it breathes it reveals darker, earthier tones of caramelized sugar, rhubarb, blackberry and a tasty gaminess. The palate shows the fresh red fruits mentioned in the description above which strike the tip of the tongue first and blossom in the mid-palate. The wine is medium bodied displaying the soft, plush, silky and weighty -- without being heavy -- texture that is classic California Pinot Noir. Good acidity makes this an excellent food wine.
