96pts (CW)"Few wines have stunned, disarmed and delighted the way Anthony Weytjens' has. Anthony is young and this is his first vintage of his private label, but his experience shows astounding maturity. He acquired his masters from the University of Winemaking in Bordeaux and worked at Henri Bourgeois in Sancerre, as well as many of theMoueix family properties, including Petrus and Dominus.
The wine is 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Semillon and fully fermented in neutral barrels with the Semillon having gone through malolactic fermentation - no oak is tasted, but the wine is fantastically round. Incredible mid-palate weight is displayed and the fruit is reminiscent of lemon curd, candied limes and bruised meyer lemons. Few Sauvignon Blancs express this sort of elegance and restraint - even the acid feels decidedly and deliberately held-back than many of its Californian counterparts. I can't help but draw a comparison to the esteemed wines of Dider Daganeau and great white Bordeaux - of course, with a Californian tan.
